What is Shea
Oil and what is so special about it?
Shea oil is a thick and rich oil extracted from the
kernel of the karite tree located in West Africa. To
create shea oil, shea butter fractionated into stearin
and olein using a non-chemical process. Raw shea oil
has been used for thousands of years as a skin and hair
conditioner given its superior healing, moisturizing,
and revitalizing qualities. Shea oil is used in several
high-end cosmetics and body products.
Can Shea Oil
be used on oily and combination skin?
Everyone needs to moisturize their skin daily no matter
what "type" of skin they may have. Pure shea
oil is considered one of the best emollients and moisturizers
available; it can be used on these skin types. For oily
and combination skin types, always start with a very
small amount (about half the size of a dime).
Why should I
use Shea Oil on my hair?
Shea oil is also particularly beneficial for processed
and heat-treated hair. It is an excellent treatment
for dry scalp. It restores luster to damaged hair. Eliminating
scalp irritation from dryness or chemical processing,
restores luster to hair, and can bring relief to itchy
scalps due to dryness.
Can I use Black
Soap to wash my face?
Black soap, or Alata Samina as it is known in Ghana,
is a remarkable cleanser. What makes our version of
black soap particularly suitable as a facial wash is
that it contains no chemical lye. Chemical lye is used
in many of the bar soaps found in American households
today. Further, the manufacturing process typically
removes the naturally occurring glycerin that is produced
when oils and water combine to form soap. In contrast,
our African black soap is a proprietary blend of coco
pods, and coconut oils; it also has all of its naturally
occurring glycerin intact. This combination provides
all the lather you expect along with a natural antiseptic
capable of dispatching skin related bacteria.
